It provides a standardized vocabulary on the subject of racial discrimination offering a structured alphabetical list of concepts intended to convey the contents of our documentation unambiguously. Published by ARIS and edited by Bert Verstappen, of HURIDOCS (Human Rights Information Documentation Systems Int.), the Thesaurus arose from the need to give the ARIS Documentation Centre, as well as other organizations working in the field of racial discrimination, a detailed and accurate tool for the indexation and research of documents, books, articles, etc. ARIS and HURIDOCS continue to laborate to provide an instrument that is as precise and as comprehensive as possible.
