ARIS can help you

If you need documentation about racial discrimination and related topics, you are welcome to consult our online catalog/database of references. In addition, in many cases we can send you full or partial copies of the documentation you select from the catalog. This service is free of charge.

Obtaining documents

First, search the database of document descriptions and select documentation that matches your interests. Your selections are cumulated across your searches.

Second, when you have completed your selections, click 'Submit my request'.The system asks you for contact information and automatically sends an email to ARIS with your request.

Third, we receive your request and send copies of items to you by email, fax, or post, depending on size, format, and other considerations. For more information about how we send items, click here.

About our database

More than 3,000 items of documentation on racism and related topics are indexed, ranging from Abduction to Xenophobia. They cover more than 165 countries -- all the signatories of the CERD convention -- and more than 180 minority/ethnic groups. Some of them are difficult to obtain elsewhere. Most are in English and are recent rather than historical.

Future plans include adding the complete text of some documents to the database (in PDF format) .

How documentation is described and indexed

Each item of documentation has a descriptive summary and is indexed by topic, by country and by minority group. Terms used are from the ARIS thesaurus.

Where the documentation comes from

The collection includes books, reports, news items and contributions from other NGOs. If there are items of documention that you think should be added, please let us know.
